Children’s Chinese Library
The Woking Chinese School will hold a bilingual storytelling event on Saturday, August 13th from 2: 30-3: 30pm in the Woking Library. Admission is free. See this poster for details. Everyone is welcome to bring their children!
With the aim of serving our local community better by enhancing their learning experience, the Chinese Association of Woking formed a partnership with Surrey County Council Libraries. Their hard work brings us an authentic collection of over 1,000 Chinese books specifically tailored for children and young adults.
Highlights:
-
Picture books for pre-school toddlers
-
Graded reading books for school age children
-
Contemporary material for GCSE and A Level students
-
Classic Chinese novels in English
-
Works by famous children’s authors from China’s school recommended reading lists
-
Culture, History, Traditions and many more
-
Many books specially procured and shipped from China
The partnership with Surrey Libraries enables us to benefit from the use of their advanced information system and access to their professional guidance. The entire collection is located within Woking Library (Gloucester Walk, Woking, GU21 6EP). Books can be loaned to any Surrey Libraries card holder and can be reserved and collected from any Surrey Libraries branch for free.
We hope that our Children’s Chinese Library collection will not only assist the learning of Chinese, but also bring the classic pleasure of reading to the community. Please make the most of the collection by using it and letting others know about it. Lastly, we request that you look after the books, and show our children that beautiful books are to be treasured.
We really hope that you can give us your feedback on this project, or if you have any queries or suggestions, please contact Mrs Mei Cunningham at libraryteam@cawoking.org.uk.
